I feel grateful for sharing my story and my vision behind creating The Learners Pathway
Only 27% of middle and high school students are proficient in fundamental life skills such as reading and writing. This deficiency escalates dropout rates and results in ill-prepared students for tertiary education or employment. The primary culprit is the inadequate time dedicated to teaching writing and reading strategies, as well as creative and critical thinking skills in schools.
Many students who are fluent English speakers and quite good readers struggle when it comes to writing an essay, a story, or a book report, generating and organizing ideas, reading comprehension, critical analysis, or simply explaining or summarizing what they just read. This foundational gap exists despite attending good schools, which often cannot focus on these areas due to their extensive curricula.
Traditional tutoring centers offer short-term assistance for immediate academic needs, leaving students with a substantial literacy gap in grammar, reading, and writing.
The vision of eliminating this challenge for future generations inspired the founding of The Learners Pathway. Unlike traditional tutoring centers, The Learners Pathway is an innovative literacy enrichment academy that introduces a unique and research-based English Foundation Program for children in grades 4-12. The program's strength lies in its ability to fill literacy gaps and instill confidence in students, eliminating the need for continuous tutoring throughout their school years. Over 12 months, students learn essential grammar, writing, reading, and public speaking tools and strategies. The Foundation Program adopts a holistic approach, benefiting students academically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
Besides the Foundation Program, The Learners Pathway offers a Phonics Program for kids in grades 1-3 over six months.
The primary goal is to nurture independent learners, reducing the need for regular tutoring, saving both parents' money and students' time.
The first class of The Learners Pathway took place in India in April 2017, producing amazing success stories and significant results. After moving to Canada in 2019, the platform was reestablished in Edmonton, with the vision to impact students' lives globally.
The aim is to make our children independent and confident learners so that they can successfully thrive in this fast-paced and highly demanding world.
As an educator, I am dedicated to raising a generation of creative and critical thinkers and building a better community. The Learners Pathway intends to inspire and enrich every student’s life.
